Mickley Picnic 2016

Well the weather can't always be on our side as the heavy rain at this year's picnic demonstrated, but we can't always count on the unwavering hospitalilty of our patrons and picnic hosts, Michael and Amanda Abrahams.

Once again, volunteers, trustees, riders and their families were invited to the beautiful grounds of Mickley, just north of Ripon, for our annual picnic on Monday 22 August, where longstanding ride coordinator, Rosemary Turner was presented with a certifcate by Michael Abrahams for 10 years volunteering at Follifoot. Well done Rosemary and thank you for all your years dedication to the charity!

With our carriage driving pony Betty, and horses Smithy, Joker, Prince and Kizmet in tow, the 120 attendees enjoyed lunch followed by horse riding and carriage driving. Fortunately the heavy rain which had greeted the guests had eased off by this point, and naturally the sun came out just as everyone was about leave.

We would like to thank Michael and Amanda once again for providing an excellent finger buffet lunch along with all the helpers in the kitchen, and for allowing everybody to eat in the house after being rained off the patio. Who says a picnic has to be outdoors?
