Time table

We run our horse and pony rides in school term times only,  and take a break during school holidays.  The carriage runs from May to October and does continue through the holidays. Many of our rides take place outside and in all weathers so please be mindful of this. 

Monday

1.30 and 2.15  - Sponsor: Techbuyer - Kevin & Frank Towers
These rides are primarily for adults, with three or four riders on each ride and last for 45 minutes each.  We can use the hoist for mounting and dismounting if this is required.  Most weeks the ride will go out for a hack, with the horse being led and the rider will be accompanied by a sidewalker.  We also have some riders who use the mechanical horse Storm at these sessions.

Tuesday

9.30 – Sponsor: Sally Bennett
This ride is for adults and they have use of the hoist if it is needed. There are three or four riders on the ride and it lasts for about an hour.  Most weeks the ride will go out for a hack, with the horse being led and the rider accompanied by a sidewalker so there is always plenty of chat.

10.00– Sponsor:  Snowball
The ride is for children from the age of 2-6.  We aim to have 3 ponies per ride and 9 children, allowing  20 minutes riding for each child.   This length of time is ideal for the little ones and volunteers help to  support children with a wide variety of special needs.  They will ride up the track or play games, which helps improve their balance and coordination as well as being fun.

5.30 - Sponsor: Terry Parlby and 6.15- Sponsor: Cllr. Zoe Metcalfe NYCC
These rides are for school children and under 21s so that they can ride after school or college.   The rides last for 45 minutes and there are four riders on each ride. Some weeks they will go out for a hack and in the winter they will be in the arena, always with a leader and sidewalker.

Wednesday

9.30 – Sponsor: George Toplis
The ride is for children from the age of 2-6.  We aim to have 3 ponies per ride and 9 children, allowing 20 minutes riding for each child.  This length of time is ideal for the little ones and volunteers help to support children with a wide variety of special needs.   They will ride up the track or play games, which will help improve their balance and coordination, as well as being fun.

10.30 – Sponsor: Derry Jones
This ride is primarily for adults with 3 or 4 riders and lasts for about an hour.  Riders can have use of the hoist if this is required.  Most weeks they will go out for a hack, with a leader and a sidwalker to chat to.

10.30 – STORM (the mechanical horse ) rides with the STORM team
Up to three riders can attend in the morning.   There is a hoist available for those who need it and volunteers are experienced in operating Storm and his interactive screen.

5.00 – Sponsor: Sally Baines
This ride is for school children and under 21s so that they can ride after school or college. There are 3 or 4 riders on the ride and it lasts for 30 minutes. This ride alternates between the indoor and outdoor arena, riding up the track or playing games to help with confidence and balance.  Volunteers will lead and sidewalk.

Thursday

Thursday 11.30 – Sponsor: Cheridan Raithby Trust
This ride is for adults with three or four riders on the ride and it lasts for an hour.  The hoist is available for those who need it.  Most weeks the ride will go out for a hack with someone to lead the horse and a sidewalker to chat to.

Thursday 7.00 - Sponsor: The Knaresborough Mummers
This ride is for adults and older teenagers.  It lasts for an hour and there are three or four riders.  In the summer the ride will go out for a hack and when the evenings get darker they will be in the indoor arena for games and exercises, always with a leader and sidewalker.

Friday

Friday 9.30 – Sponsor:  Lucy Sawdon 
The ride is for children aged 2-6  We aim to have 3 ponies per ride and 9 children, allowing 20 minutes riding for each child.  This length of time is ideal for the little ones and the volunteers learn to support children with a variety of special needs.  They will ride up the track or play games, which will help with balance and coordination, as well as being fun.

Sunday

Sunday 4.00 – Sponsor: Rotary Club of Harrogate Brigantes / James and Florence Beeny
This ride is for children and older teenagers;  There are four children on the ride and it lasts for approximately one hour.  In the spring and summer months the ride will go out for a hack, and in the winter they will exercise and practise in the indoor arena, always with a leader and sidewalker.

Carriage Driving

This runs from April until October on Monday-Thursday mornings, weather permitting, with sessions at 10am and 11am, each lasting approximately 45 minutes.  .  We can accommodate wheelchairs on the carriage and they drive out along the roads near the stable yard.


STORM the mechanical horse

Currently, STORM is operated on a Monday and Wednesday but could possibly be used on other days depending upon the need.  He has an interactive screen, so you can ride along the beach or around the farm, amongst other places.
